Prince William reveals King Charles III hates Soccer

Prince William is back at the royal scene after being the surprise guest on Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast on Friday ahead of Kelce and Taylor Swift’s wedding. The Prince discussed several matters surrounding sports, including a major confession.

During the podcast, Travis Kelce noticed that the Prince of Wales is the official Royal Patron of the Football Association (the governing body for English football), the Welsh Rugby Union, Swim England, and the British Sub Aqua Club. However, his father, King Charles III, is not a fan of soccer.

While delving into the origin story of Prince William’s football fandom, Kelce asked if the Monarch of the United Kingdom was the reason why he is such a fan of Aston Villa. Immediately, Prince William spilled all the tea about his father’s likes:

“Absolutely no. My father hates football. My family hasn’t got a particularly long history with football. There are a few of us who support teams. My football love came from friends taking me to my first match and at school growing up. You can’t. You can’t avoid the football chat. It’s everywhere. Yeah. And some school friends or childhood friends of mine took me to my first game.”
