Prince William and Kate reportedly arrived at Balmoral on August 20, 2026, which has served as a summer destination for the royal family since the time of Queen Victoria. Their arrival came one day after BBC News and PEOPLE confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to move their family back to the United Kingdom for an extended period of time. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are reportedly expected to begin school there in September 2026.

Prince Harry and Prince William have experienced public tensions since Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties in 2020. Their relationship has also been discussed in interviews, documentaries, and in Harry’s controversial memoir “Spare.” Despite tensions, PEOPLE reports that the Duke of Sussex’s return to Britain might give the brothers a chance to make amends, as that would have never happened with Harry living in America.
Meanwhile, it has also been reported that the family’s return to the United Kingdom is connected to new professional opportunities for Meghan Markle. The Duchess of Sussex is in early talks for a possible role on the Guy Ritchie-created drama, “The Gentlemen.” The series, which will premiere its second season on September 3, 2026, could mark Meghan Markle’s biggest role since Suits, where she played Rachel Zane from 2011 to 2017.
