In a recent interview, Charles Spencer breaks his silence on the Prince William and Prince Harry rift, revealing his stance on his nephews’ fractured bond.
On September 20th, the BBC released their full interview with Princess Diana’s brother for him to talk about his new book, ‘Swan Song: Diana, My Sister,’ which comes out on September 22nd, and more of his current relationship with the royal family.
When Charles Spencer was asked about his position between Prince William and Prince Harry, recognizing that media has made him look like he has taken the Duke of Sussex side, he claimed, “I’m on my deceased sister’s sons’ side, both of them.”
“And if either of them wanted anything, then I’d be equally there for them. And I never get involved in one camp or the other, except as a benign figure, I hope.”
The 9th Earl Spencer recognized that both sides have good reasons and confessed, “I certainly don’t know what’s been done in the finer detail,” but he only hopes “one day it’s resolved.” He also spoke from Princess Diana’s perspective, saying:
“A mother would want her two sons to be happy together and love each other.”
