While not revealing any details, Prince Harry does mention a time when Queen Elizabeth II was overseeing a fierce argument in which he felt extremely cornered. His father, the acting King of the United Kingdom, was telling lies about an undisclosed situation and William was yelling at him.
According to him, that’s what made him turn away from the monarchy, those constant attacks from his own closest family members and also the attacks on his wife, Meghan Markle.
“It was terrifying to have my brother shouting at me and my father telling me things that weren’t true and my grandmother sitting quietly and taking it all in,” Prince Harry said.
“When I got in the car after the meeting, I was told that a joint statement had been made on behalf of myself and my brother to disprove the story that he had kicked us out of the family.”
The Duke of Sussex capped off the revelation by stating the following:
“I couldn’t believe it. No one had ever asked my permission to put my name on a statement like that. I called Meghan, told her and she burst into tears. () Because in four hours they were happy to lie to protect my brother and yet for three years they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.”
