Meghan Markle celebrated her eighth wedding anniversary with Prince Harry by sharing several previously unseen photos from their wedding day. On May 19, 2026, the mother of two posted a collection of pictures on Instagram to mark the special occasion. The former royal couple married on May 19, 2018, during a royal ceremony held at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor. Meghan kept things simple but emotional by writing, “Eight years ago today…” alongside the images.
The first batch of photos focused on moments from the daytime ceremony and reception. Different black and white images showed Meghan and Prince Harry spending endearing moments together after exchanging vows. One photo captured Harry looking at Meghan’s wedding bouquet, while another showed singer Elton John playing piano during the reception. Guests at the wedding previously shared that the singer also played popular songs, including “Tiny Dancer.” In addition, Meghan posted behind-the-scenes moments from their official wedding portraits and photos of Harry giving a speech during the celebration at Windsor Castle.

The second Instagram post featured photos from the couple’s evening reception at Frogmore House. Meghan also uploaded an Instagram Stories montage set to “Land of 1000 Dances” by Wilson Pickett, which was the couple’s first dance song. In her 2022 docuseries, “Harry & Meghan,” The Duchess revealed that she wanted their dance to be upbeat, saying that she thought of the moment as being “just spinning like a whirlwind.” In addition to the sweet throwback photos, Meghan took to her Instagram Stories to share several videos celebrating her anniversary. One of the clips shows Prince Harry holding a cake and singing “happy anniversary” to his wife, with the voices of Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie accompanying the song. Another short video showcases a penguin sculpture that the Duke of Sussex gave Meghan as a tribute to their engagement party.

Before moving to California after stepping back from royal duties, Meghan and Harry lived at Frogmore Cottage near Windsor. Their wedding remains one of the most talked-about royal events in recent years because of its celebrity guests, emotional moments, and modern approach to royal tradition. Prince Harry did not get married at Westminster Abbey in London, following in the footsteps of Prince William and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. Instead, he and Meghan Markle decided to have their wedding in the grand chapel that is near the grounds of Windsor Castle.
