During a recent interview to Rolling Stone, BTS‘ RM opens up about his mental health after military service and the negative chapter it brought to his life.
On April 13th, the boy group was announced to grace the cover of the magazine in May 2026, and for this promotional collaboration, their leader had an individual interview to talk about the band’s identity, the music he likes, and how he overcame his mental health battles.
Amid this talk, RM confessed he “managed to get through it pretty well,” and he currently keeps a positive mind for staying in the present, but he also admits that “I think it helps me. Now I sleep in my bed. I’m good. I think it’s excellent personal therapy.”
Later, the idol said that despite being already out of that crisis physically, he has to continue with his mental work: “I’m just admitting it, that essential sorrow. I don’t know what it is called, but it’s always there in some part of my heart.”
“I think I’m still in the middle of just meeting who I am. I’m maybe too sensitive, [more] than the others…Or I think too much.”
Despite all these battles, the BTS leader continued trying to enjoy life and fight against his personal demons, and he concluded, assuring that life is not good only because he is a star but, in fact, because even the small things in life are very fun and deserve to be lived.
