Through a recent report, it was announced that FIFA prepares to bend rules to give viewers a 30-minute halftime show with Shakira, BTS, Madonna, and Justin Bieber at the World Cup final.

According to The Telegraph, the BBC and ITV TV channels are preparing for a 30-minute break to broadcast an 11-minute half-time show as well as their usual 15-minute mid-game analysis to compete with the renowned Super Bowl halftime show.

This decision generated much controversy among the public because it changed the laws of the game that prohibit the interval of any football match lasting more than 15 minutes, which FIFA already broke during last year’s Club World Cup with a 25-minute halftime show.

This new addition to the sporting event could make it the longest World Cup edition of all time, even after the addition of three-minute hydration breaks that lengthen the broadcast and have generated many debates.

The FIFA World Cup final is set to take place on Sunday, July 19th, at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, with their first-ever halftime show with performances by Madonna, Justin Bieber, Shakira, BTS, Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel and the PS22 Chorus featuring Coldplay.
