Red Velvet’s Irene and Seulgi will bring their electropop sound to Japan for new promotions

Red Velvet’s Irene and Seulgi are preparing to make Japan dance with their first Japanese EP, “Cheetah.” SM Entertainment announced on September 10, 2026, that the mini-album will be released on November 4. The project will contain five tracks, including its title song, giving the duo a new opportunity to showcase their electropop style in a Japanese style.

The velvety duo will also preview the songs from Cheetah online two months before the physical release. In addition, their Japanese activities will coincide with the upcoming Blank tour, which begins in Fukuoka on September 19, 2026. Irene and Seulgi are scheduled to visit six additional cities across Japan as they promote their music and perform for fans.

Irene and Seulgi officially formed their Red Velvet subunit in 2020 and debuted with the EP Monster. After their first mini-album, they released their second EP, Tilt, in 2025, continuing their work as a duo alongside their activities with Red Velvet. Meanwhile, the full 5-member lineup of Red Velvet returned with the EP “Surfin’ Boy” on August 28, 2026, giving fans a sweet summer comeback.
