Before dropping the song, Rosalía and Lisa had been long-time friends and expressed admiration for each other. For example, in May 2022, the BLACKPINk member told Rolling Stone:

“Rosalía is so cool. She has her own Spanish culture, that’s inside her person. that influences her music.”

Similarly, the Spanish singer praised Lisa in an interview with Radio Disney Mexico in 2022, saying:

“I love Lisa. I’m a fan of hers. To me, I love her. She dances well and she is so talented.” It’s clear these two were the perfect match for a collab!

In addition, “New Woman” includes some big names in its credits: Producer Max Martin, known for working with Taylor Swift and The Weekend, and Ilya Salmanzadeh, known for working with Ariana Grande and Sam Smith. Then, the lyrics were written by Lisa herself, Rosalía, Max Martin, Ilya Salmanzadeh, and Swedish artist Tove Lo.
