Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing to move back to the United Kingdom later in August 2026. According to BBC News, the couple plans to leave the United States and move into a private London home. Their children, Prince Archie, who is seven years old, and Princess Lilibet, who is five years old, are reportedly attending a British school in September 2026.

King Charles was informed of the planned move on August 16, 2026, as per BBC News. However, the Sussexes’ choice to live in Britain is not expected to modify Harry and Meghan’s official status in the monarchy. Neither of them plans to return as a working member of the Royal Family. Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton have also reportedly been informed about the family’s plans to return to the United Kingdom.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from the royal family on January 8, 2020, and settled in California in March 2020. Their relationship with the Royal Family became strained in the subsequent years, following speculation and the release of Harry’s bombshell memoir “Spare.” Despite controversies, the Sussex family visited King Charles and Queen Camilla in July 2026 at Highgrove. The private family meeting marked the first time the King had seen Archie and Lilibet in person in more than four years, as the four family members had not been together in the UK since 2022, when they attended Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
