Meghan Markle surprised viewers by revealing that her two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, enjoy eating Brussels sprouts. The Duchess of Sussex appeared as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia, where participants were tasked with preparing a dish using some of her favorite ingredients. During an episode’s preview, the mother of three introduced a table filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, including carrots, Jerusalem artichokes, celeriac, apples, lemons, strawberries and local Australian honey.
She then shared that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet enjoy having Brussels sprouts, a vegetable many children are known for avoiding. “That’s impressive,” Sofia Levin replied about the healthy eating choice. She joins Meghan on the judges’ panel alongside her fellow season 18 regulars Jean-Christophe Novelli and Poh Ling Yeow.
The Duchess of Sussex also explained that cooking plays an important role in her family life. She described food as a love language that allows her to connect with the people closest to her. According to Meghan, preparing meals is one of the ways she expresses care and affection for her friends, family members and children. That same passion was previously shared on her Netflix series With Love Meghan, which focuses on the former royal’s passion for home cooking and lifestyle.
“Food and cooking to me is really a love language,” she shared. “I think it’s such a great way to connect. It’s something that can feel sentimental and meaningful and It’s how I, it’s how I show my nurturing and love for my friends, family, and my kids.”
Although Meghan enjoys spending time in the kitchen, she admitted that the fast-paced environment of MasterChef Australia felt very different from how she normally cooks. She said she prefers a calm and relaxed atmosphere instead of making her meals under pressure.
“I don’t like to cook that way. I like to cook in a really relaxed fashion, so all I could say to the competitors was to just remember to have fun, to keep a sense of humor about it and to cook from the heart.”
