Contrary to popular belief, Prince Harry‘s childhood was not so happy, as he even confessed that his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, deprived him of any physical affection, generating emotional trauma in the little Duke, who always felt repressed when expressing his feelings.

Although Princess Diana filled her sons, William and Harry, with much love, after her death the closest to a mother would be their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, but she never allowed any kind of physical affection to her grandsons; if they did so, they could even receive a punishment. To avoid it, the Duke repressed all his affection and was cold to everyone.

He confesses this in his book of memoirs, ‘Spare‘, where he mentions, “To see her tapping her foot, and swaying in time, I wanted to hug her, though of course I didn’t. Out of the question. I never had done and couldn’t imagine a circumstance under which such an act might be sanctioned“.

He also revealed his intentions to be a safe place for his offspring: “As a father with two kids of my own, making sure that I smother them with love and affection, not smother them to the point where they are trying to get away […] but in the sense that I, as a father, feel that huge responsibility to ensure that I don’t pass on any traumas or negative experiences that I’ve had as a kid“.
