“Germany is setting a powerful example of what it means to honor service with dignity and enduring commitment,” Harry shared. “We are now gathered for the second Invictus Germany Sports Festival, welcoming 11 nations. And what you’ve created here is already helping shape the inaugural Invictus Australia Sports Festival later this year.”
The Invictus founder highlights unity and resilience
Prince Harry launched the Invictus Games in 2014 to support and honor wounded, injured, and sick service members and veterans. In his message, he highlighted that the German festival welcomed competitors from 11 nations and said the event would help shape the inaugural Invictus Australia Sports Festival later in 2026. The father of two thanked participants for their service and encouraged them to support one another throughout the competition.

“Thank you for your service, for your example, and for showing what it means to move forward together,” he told the audience. “Have a fantastic time in Düsseldorf, lean on each other when you need to and celebrate everything you’ve achieved. And most importantly, make sure you have fun.”

As Prince Harry’s message was being shared in Germany, King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Kate Middleton, and their children took part in the annual birthday parade in London. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle last attended Trooping the Colour in 2019 as active royals, before stepping back from the royal family in 2020. The pair attended the event once again in 2022 during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, but they did not join the rest of the royal family members on the Buckingham Palace balcony. Instead, they watched from the Major General’s Office. Meanwhile, Prince Harry is expected to return to the United Kingdom in July 2026 for Invictus-related events in Birmingham ahead of the 2027 competition.
