King Charles III has been living in the last couple of years near Buckingham Palace after ascending to the British throne. However, the King is set to move out of the palace during the  $487 million refurbishment project, ending a tradition that has defined the British monarchy for nearly two centuries. So, where will he be living?

On June 26, royal officials confirmed that although the palace will remain the ceremonial and operational headquarters of the monarchy, the monarchs of the United Kingdom will reportedly live at nearby Clarence House throughout Charles’ reign.

The King will not move to Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace, built in the 1820s and home to monarchs since Queen Victoria, has long served as both a royal residence and administrative center. However, King Charles III redefined the monarchy living at  Clarence House, increasing the public access to the Palace and strengthening the Palace’s role as a national landmark.

The announcement came during a briefing on royal finances, as King Charles III has just become the first  British monarch to publicly disclose details of his tax payments. Ultimately, the King is showcasing a strong increase in positive reactions among the royal followers and the British people overall.
