But some royal followers immediately thought about who Donald Trump didn’t mention, Prince Harry! He had just reunited with King Charles for the first time in 19 months, though this family gesture went unmentioned. Some commentators viewed the comment as an intentional spotlight on Prince William over his younger brother, but others dismissed it as simple banquet paraphernalia.

Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton welcomed Donald Trump and his wife earlier this week. The foursome had lunch at Windsor Castle, and a private meeting described as “warm and friendly.” Meanwhile, the 79-year-old politician has publicly expressed his dislike for Prince Harry and Megan Markle. In 2020, Trump said he was “not a fan” of Markle and wished the Duke of Sussex good luck because “he was going to need it.” The Sussexes have never endorsed a presidential candidate explicitly, but back in 2020, Prince Harry recommended voters to “reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity.” On a similar vein, Meghan Markle called Trump “misogynistic” and “divisive” during a 2017 interview.
