Nicki Minaj scores a third number one on the Billboard 200 chart with “Pink Friday 2”

Nicki Minaj had the world in shock after she announced her latest album would be titled “Pink Friday 2” named after her groundbreaking album, “Pink Friday” released in 2010. Despite the album being delayed multiple times by Nicki herself, the wait was worth it as she debuted at the top of the Billboard 200.

Billboard was pleased to announce that Pink Friday 2 debuts with 228,000 equivalent album units in the United States in the week ending December 14. This becomes the American rapper’s third album at the top of the list and the most No. 1s among female rappers.

In addition, Nicki’s sales broke the record of the largest week for a rap album by a woman in the 2020s decade, and the biggest debut for an R&B/hip-hop album by a woman this year. The album spawned three singles before its release, “Super Freaky Girl,” which reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” and “Last Time I Saw You.”
