Disney decided to break the silence with a blunt statement that clarified the alleged latest score box failure with Pixar’s movie, ‘Elemental.’ The movie became the center of attention for movie fans who did not hesitate to joke about the decline of the company.
Disney addressed ‘Elemental’ speculations regarding its score box data with a press statement that demonstrated how proud they are of the film. However, the statement caused some controversy among the fans after it was reported the movie wasn’t a failure at the box score.
“When Pixar’s Elemental debuted in June it was more spark than fire. But Elemental didn’t evaporate at the box office. Audiences kept showing up.”
In addition, Elemental surpassed 400 million dollars in the worldwide box score and 148 million in the domestic box score which represents a huge success for the animation studio.
“That’s about five times its domestic opening weekend haul, which is a rare accomplishment in a theatrical world that sees most moviegoers buy a ticket the opening weekend. In fact, it’s so rare that no Pixar movie has had a multiple that high since the one that started it all: 1995’s Toy Story”
Tony Chambers, Disney’s EVP of Theatrical Distribution also talked about the success of the movie in the statement: “After a disappointing opening weekend, we’re really pleased that audiences have discovered what a great movie it is.” This statement became Disney’s blunt message for everyone who was stating they were on their decline.
