PSY has finally made a comeback after more than 5 years, and it may even be thanks to BTS’ Suga! In a recent interview with Billboard, PSY sat down and discussed everything from what it was like to create the track, his friendship with the members of BTS and much more.

PSY explained that he was happy to be his artists’ manager at P NATION for the past two years, but suddenly that changed when Suga approached him and explained that he had a track he wanted to produce.

Just before, I was a perfect manager. I was actually in charge of the company for two years before I met this leader.

He came up with the track and suggested it to me. He wanted to produce me“.

If that wasn’t enough, it seemed that working with Suga rekindled PSY’s desire to perform his own music. In particular, he explained that the writing process was so impactful that he was inspired the following month to write even more tracks.

I was driven by this incident, this young blood of this musician. We worked together, it was fun and I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s music, that’s what I’ve been doing since I was young’.

When I saw what he was doing, improvising and his enthusiasm, it literally rubbed off on me“.

PSY had mentioned SUGA in his interview with Billboard.

Although PSY is older than Suga, the writing process seemed to cement the duo’s friendship. In addition to working on the music, they seemed to form a connection based on their shared love of music, which made everything so much easier.

But the quote he said was absolutely the trigger: he said, ‘Hyung, as far as hip-hop goes, the ’90s were the bomb.’ But the kid was born in the ’90s! He told me about Biggie and Tupac, I was like, ‘How do you know all that?

He’s really crazy about ’90s hip-hop.”
