BTS, CORTIS and KATSEYE: The leading groups at the 2026 MTV VMAs

The three acts have expanded their nominations for the September 27 ceremony

BTS, CORTIS and KATSEYE have added new nominations for the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, giving all three acts additional opportunities to take home a Moon Person (the current name of the trophies). MTV shared the latest nominees on September 18, with BTS, CORTIS and KATSEYE all receiving nominations in the Best Group category.

BTS now has three nominations, adding Best Group to their already-existing nods to Song of the Year and Best K-pop with “Swim,” the lead single from their fifth album, “ARIRANG.” In addition, Cortis received three nominations after joining the Best Group category. The quintet was previously nominated for Best New Artist and Best K-pop, making the freshly debuted act one of the youngest groups represented in the category. Other nominees include BLACKPINK, FLO, Fuerza Regida, Geese and Twenty One Pilots.

Meanwhile, KATSEYE has expanded their total to four nominations with additional nods for Best Group and Song of Summer. Their single “Hootie Frutti” competes in the latter category alongside songs by Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars, Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift, and more. The global girl group already had nominations for Best K-pop and Best Choreography thanks to “Pinky Up.” KATSEYE might also get another VMA win after receiving the MTV Push Performance of the Year award in 2025.

Meanwhile, the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards will take place September 27 at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater and air on CBS and MTV, with streaming on Paramount+.
