Shakira teases the upcoming halftime performance
Shakira has shared new details about the first FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show, calling it a “pretty historic” moment. During an interview on The Capital Evening Show With Jimmy Hill, which aired on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the Colombian hitmaker revealed she will be taking the stage alongside BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, and Coldplay at the FIFA World Cup Final on July 19, 2026.
The event will take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, marking the first halftime show in FIFA’s World Cup history. The “Whenever, Wherever” singer explained that she is already thinking about how to make her appearance different from the performance she gave during the tournament’s opening ceremony.
“I played at the inauguration, and now I’m playing at the final,” the artist said. “I’ve got to wrap my head around it, make it a little different from what I did at the inauguration.”
The singer promises a memorable collaboration
During the interview, Shakira admitted that many details are still being planned but said the show is expected to be unforgettable. “It’s going to be a shared halftime show. It’s going to be pretty historic, five amazing artists, well four amazing artists plus me,” she said jokingly.

She also mentioned that she hopes Coldplay frontman Chris Martin will perform alongside the other artists. “We’ll all get together and we’ll all figure it out how it’s gonna be, but I’m really curious,” she added. FIFA and Global Citizen confirmed on July 8, 2026 that Justin Bieber would join the star-packed lineup for the halftime show, performing alongside BTS, Madonna, and Shakira, with Chris Martin helping curate the 11-minute performance.
Shakira continues her successful World Cup era
Alongside the excitement surrounding the halftime show, Shakira is also celebrating success on the music charts. Her collaboration with Burna Boy, “Dai Dai (FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026),” recently earned a second consecutive week at number one on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart. The track also climbed to #3 on the Billboard Global 200 after recording 34.4 million streams. Meanwhile, the upcoming FIFA halftime show is expected to become one of the biggest musical events of the year and the first of its kind in the history of the tournament.
