BTS’ V has landed in an American classroom, and social media is talking about it. His photo appeared in the teaching materials of a United States university during a lesson on body image and what makes someone beautiful, next to actors Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland. A student who had never listened to K-pop spotted him when his face popped up during an exercise physiology class.
The slide showed the three men under the title “The Most Beautiful Man in the World in 2023.” It came from a document tied to that year’s rankings of the most handsome men, in which V took first place on TechnoSports’ list, Pattinson placed second and Holland also made the cut.
The image reached the internet when someone posted it after receiving it from a friend who attended the class. That friend used a meme to show how shocked they were to spot the K-pop star in schoolwork. V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, has been part of BTS since 2013. In 2023 he released his solo album Layover, which has six tracks, including “Love Me Again,” “Rainy Days” and “Slow Dancing.”
This isn’t the first time he has appeared in American classes. Professors have previously used him as a case study of attractiveness when teaching non-verbal visuals in courses on fashion and pop icons, and media outlets and voting groups have ranked his looks throughout his career.
It’s worth noting that the ranking in those materials came from fan votes, not from scientists measuring facial features. Even so, seeing a BTS member beside two Hollywood actors in teaching content has sparked conversation across social networks.
