Prince Harry has mentioned that security is still the biggest issue for a possible family visit to the United Kingdom, not accommodation. On June 29, 2026, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex said that King Charles’ offer of accommodation on a royal estate remains available but has not yet been accepted.
According to the statement, the family’s priority is obtaining what they consider appropriate security throughout the visit. The update comes as Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are expected to travel to Britain for events connected to the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.

Prince Harry says accommodation is not the main issue
The Duke’s spokesperson explained that safe accommodation is only one part of an effective security plan, as potential risks are connected to Prince Harry and his family as individuals rather than the location. The Duke is reportedly exploring every available option that would allow the Sussex family to visit Britain safely and give his children the opportunity to spend time in the country. Archie and Lilibet have not been back to the United Kingdom since 2022, when they attended celebrations marking Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
“Prince Harry’s programme in the United Kingdom includes both public and private engagements across the country. Safe accommodation is only one element of an effective protective security plan because risk follows the person, not the place,” the spokesperson revealed.
The security dispute remains unresolved

The disagreement focuses on the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, known as RAVEC, which determines security arrangements for members of the royal family. Royal sources have said that Prince Harry believes an independent review of his security risks has not yet been completed. The father of two previously stated that he does not feel comfortable bringing his wife and kids to Britain without official police protection. Even though the 41-year-old estranged royal believes the matter could be resolved, Buckingham Palace has consistently denied that King Charles has the authority to change the government’s security decisions.
