During a recent live stream with members, BTS‘ V wanted to attend a Catholic church to receive a baptismal name in the army alongside soldier companions.
On May 19th, the K-Pop idols went live with RM, J-Hope, and Jimin, who ate together while answering ARMYs’ questions, but they also took that opportunity to share some military stories from their experiences fulfilling their duty.
V started his story explaining to his members that “In boot camp you can try out all religious services: church, Catholic Church, and Buddhist temple” and that he wanted to try them all during his stay, in particular because the Catholic Church gives you a baptismal name immediately.
“And I really wanted to receive one (baptism name). Since I didn’t know much, I studied about it (baptism).”

Later, the BTS member asked his unit if anyone wanted to go to Catholic services with him. When they asked him, “What will we get if we go?” he responded, “You get bread there,” convincing his companions, who accepted going with him.
V revealed he “managed to gather around 8 people to go with me,” and he stood up to make a demonstration to his member as he said, “While marching, I told them I’d receive a baptismal name. What about you guys?”
According to him, one of his unit members said he wanted to be named Mordekaiser, a League of Legends game character’s name, which made his members laugh, but that was not all due to other companions saying he wanted Miss Fortune and another wanted Lux. He concluded by explaining that they could not choose those names:
“You guys can’t create your own names; that’s not how the concept of baptism works.”
Although it is unclear if the BTS member actually did get baptized in the Church, Korean netizens believe they may have discovered his baptismal name, Dionysius, based on the idol’s name used on the Goondori military app and in honor of Saint Dionysius.
