BTS reflects on global success and future goals

In a new Rolling Stone cover story published on April 13, 2026, BTS spoke about how far they have come in 13 years as a group. What started as a South Korean boy band has become one of the biggest names in global music. Following that success, the “Dynamite” performers are discussing major career milestones, including the possibility of performing at the Super Bowl halftime show and competing with artists such as Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars.

The group responds to Super Bowl questions

When asked about the Super Bowl, the members responded with careful but hopeful answers. RM said that the opportunity could become possible if people’s views continue to change over time. Even though the halftime show has become a global event, there is still controversy for non-English-speaking performers. Bad Bunny faced backlash this year after performing in Spanish, which could spark the same criticism for BTS as primarily Korean-speaking performers.

Yet, RM pointed out that the growing global interest in Korean culture is a reason to believe that a performance like that could happen one day. For example, the popularity of movies like Parasite and the popularity of Korean culture could boost their chances. Jimin also gave a realistic answer, saying that BTS cannot do it unless they are invited. Meanwhile, Jin revealed that he has already thought about what a BTS Super Bowl halftime show performance could look like.

“Maybe if time goes by, and the thoughts in the people change,” RM told Rolling Stone. “All of the people in the world are watching Parasite, all these great things in Korean culture. So if there’s a chance, we definitely want to someday.”

“We can’t do it unless we’re invited,” Jimin pointed out in the interview.

RM and SUGA explain their current mindset

The interview also touched on how BTS sees itself next to major Western stars. RM responded modestly when asked about being viewed as competitors to artists like Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars. He said those artists are greater than BTS and described the group simply as a boy band from Korea. SUGA also spoke honestly about how his attitude has changed over time. He said he used to be too competitive, but now he believes the group should enjoy the process more. However, as time has passed, they have learned to approach their careers in a better way.

“I feel like, in the rush to achieve our goals, we didn’t care so much about our physical and emotional health, but now, we can relax a little, especially since we’re all older. So I think we can have more fun with it now, ” SUGA explained.
