Recent reports revealed that BTS‘ RM‘s donation brings traditional Korean paintings to museums around the world, helping to take the art of his country to a new level in the global industry.
This March, the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation announced the publication of the catalog titled ‘IT’S ____ HERE: Shining Korean Old Paintings Abroad’ with the funds the K-Pop idol donated to the foundation previously in 2022.
According to reports, RM donated 100 million KRW (approximately $75,000 USD) in both 2021 and 2022 to support projects related to the preservation, restoration, and utilization of Korean cultural heritage located overseas, including this catalog publication.

This project includes 24 Korean paintings featuring landscapes, portraits, documentary paintings, and bird and animal paintings created over approximately 400 years from the early 16th century to the 20th century.
RM will showcase his passion for art with the ‘RM x SFMOMA’ exhibition
Apart from demonstrating his passion for art by regularly visiting museums, RM also possesses a vast private collection of pieces that includes works by Korean artists such as Yun Hyong-keun and Kwon Jin-kyu, as well as international names like Roni Horn and KAWS.
The BTS leader collection will be officially shared for the first time in an exhibition at the SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art), scheduled to run from October 2026 to February 2027, where he will serve as guest curator.
