Eric Dane recorded a final interview for his two teenage daughters months before his death on February 19, 2026. The actor, known most recently for his role in Euphoria, was 53 years old at the time of his passing. He had publicly shared his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) on April 10, 2025. The interview was filmed in secret for Netflix’s series “Famous Last Words” and was released only after he passed away. In the video, Dane spoke directly to his daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14, whom he shared with his ex-wife, Rebecca Gayheart.

At the end of the interview, Eric Dane gave his final words to his daughters while alone in front of the camera. He told them he had tried his best as a father and said they had shared many joyful memories. He recalled their days at the beach and said those moments felt like heaven. Finally, he shared four lessons he wanted his daughters to remember. First, he encouraged them to live in the present and not get lost in regret or worry. “First, live now, right now in the present. It’s hard, but I learned to do that.”

Second, he told them to fall in love with something that gives them purpose, although he did recommend them to fall in love with a person. Third, he advised them to choose their friends wisely and value those who truly show up. Finally, he urged them to fight challenges with dignity and strength.

“Finally, fight with every ounce of your being and with dignity. When you face challenges, health or otherwise, fight,” Dane said. “Never give up. Fight until your last breath. This disease is slowly taking my body, but it will never take my spirit.”

His family later said Eric Dane died after a courageous battle with ALS and was surrounded by loved ones in his final days. According to the family, Eric became an advocate for awareness and research of ALS to support other patients in the same battle. The family’s statement concluded by asking for privacy as they go through this difficult time.
