James Gunn’s Superman flew straight to the top and didn’t look back. After just one week in theaters, it pulled in a massive $272.7 million worldwide. That already beats The Flash’s entire box office run, which ended at $271.4 million. It also beat some other DC titles like Birds of Prey, Shazam 2, and Wonder Woman 1984.

With that kind of super strength, Superman now holds the tenth spot in DC’s box office history. It’s expected to pass Shazam’s $365 million soon, maybe even Black Adam’s $393 million. And while reaching Aquaman’s billion-dollar throne might be tough, the Superman film is expected to climb near Wonder Woman or Batman vs Superman.

And the best part? This might just mark a new beginning for DC films. The new Superman proves that fans are still here for these iconic characters, as long as the movies deliver. With James Gunn setting the tone, the entire DC Universe might be able to glow up and keep shining. If upcoming films hold this recent standard, heroes like Supergirl might just be as unstoppable.
