He too for being a great songwriter and rapper, but he disliked being called that.
RM is his official name within Bangtan, although he is really called Kim Namjoon. During the early years of his career, the idol debuted under the nickname Rap Monster. He thus he was known for a period of time, even admitting that he never thought he would be known under this alias.
However, despite the fact that ARMY was familiar with Rap Monster, the idol decided to change his stage name in 2017 and has not used this nickname since. He apparently didn’t like him and the reason was explained during an interview with ACCESS; the singers responded to a dynamic that consisted of saying something to their self from the past, specifically from 2013.
Namjoon was clear and showed that he maybe he made a bad decision when he chose his nickname and this is what he said:
“Don’t call yourself Rap Monster. You are not a monster, you are a beautiful human.
”
Since then, fans have made the request to stop using this name to refer to RM, even believing that the meaning of this abbreviation has nothing to do with his old pseudonym, but rather is the abbreviation for “Real Me”. J-Hope is also another member who has revealed that he doesn’t like this nickname.
