Prince Harry is well-known for being one of the former royals to speak candidly about his past and the conflicts he had with the Royal Family before giving up on his royal titles and moving to America. However, the Duke of Sussex has reflected on the emotional preparation he undertook before becoming a father.

On April 15, Prince Harry spoke at a Movember event in Melbourne, where the Prince emphasized the importance of mental health for fathers and encouraged openness around the challenges of parenthood. During the discussion with men’s health expert Zac Seidler, Harry confessed he sought therapy to address unresolved issues from his past.

In addition, Harry explained he wanted to be “the best version” of himself for his Children, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor. He highlighted that therapy helped him confront emotional burdens and made easily prepare for fatherhood.

Prince Harry also noted evolving attitudes towards parenting as he contrasted his experience with that of his own parents, King Charles III and the late Princess Diana. He explained that today’s families are more open about mental health and explained that fathers are not alone as they share experiences with other fathers and create this kind of fatherhood network.
