King Charles III and Queen Camilla Parker have issued a joint statement to mark the conclusion of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and the start of the Royal Family’s annual summer break in Scotland.

The royal couple personally thanked volunteers, officials, athletes and organizers for delivering such an amazing celebration of sport. The King even reflected on the opening ceremony, saying it had been a pleasure to launch the Commonwealth Games and praised the dedication of everyone during the ten-day event.

The Monarch of the United Kingdom even referenced the long-running television series Doctor Who, comparing the work behind the Games to the show’s iconic blue police box. So, the effort involved indeed was far greater than it appeared.

King Charles III concluded the ceremony by congratulating medal winners and all competitors, expressing hope that everyone involved would look back on the Games with pride. Now, the Royal couple is expected to spend their summer holiday at Balmoral in Scotland.
