During this year’s Trooping the Colour, King Charles III almost makes a rare mistake on the Trooping the Colour balcony; fortunately, his son was there to prevent it.

On June 13th, the King of the United Kingdom and his family were at the British Army parade hosted in celebration of the King’s official birthday in London, but after the flypast wrapped, the monarch greeted the crowd and took a few steps towards the balcony exit.

While King Charles III appeared to attempt to leave the balcony alongside his wife, Queen Camilla, Prince William turned to them and had an exchange of words with his father that made their wives smile. Then, the monarch returned to his place just as the national anthem began.

This minor protocol mishap ended up becoming a moment of family camaraderie, and thanks to Prince William’s quick thinking, the royal family concluded the celebration, maintaining their perfect harmony and showing due respect for the national anthem.
