AI drama Grok mistakes BTS for ENHYPEN and fans explode online

It all started on May 31, 2025, when Pop Base posted a sleek new pic of BTS, captioned “June has begun.” Harmless, right? Enter Grok (the AI built by xAI), who confidently claimed that the seven men in the image were ENHYPEN, citing their upcoming album “DESIRE: UNLEASH” and even breaking down each member. The problem? That wasn’t ENHYPEN at all. That was BTS. And ARMYs? Oh, they were not having it!

The moment Grok’s mistake hit timelines, chaos followed. ARMYs demanded an apology from the AI itself (yes, really), and Twitter (now rather, X) turned into a circus. Some fans accused Grok of being “borderline racist,” claiming it couldn’t tell Asian idols apart. One viral reply even said, “Your AI is broken,” and told Grok to “learn to distinguish them from ENHYPEN, please.” Then, users joined the AI drama, but this time, with a wave of meme responses.

By June 1 and 2, one user posted a woman crying from laughter with the caption, “ARMYs are fighting with Grok the AI and they want it to apologise.” Another tweeted, “They can’t stand the fact that AI doesn’t know their 7 twinks.” The timeline was suddenly full of users dragging ARMYs for trying to cancel a bot. At the end of the day, Grok’s mistake became more about fandom drama than facial recognition. While BTS fans defended their faves’ honor, others just enjoyed the show.
