ADOR gives an update on Minji
Music agency ADOR said on May 7, 2026, that discussions about Minji’s future activities with NewJeans are ongoing. The company shared the update after NewJeans fans (known as Bunnies) began asking more questions about whether she could return as a group member. In its statement, ADOR said it could not share specific details yet, but added that the talks are generally moving in a positive direction.
“We are continuing internal discussions regarding her future activities. While we are unable to share specific details at this time, we would appreciate your understanding that discussions are generally moving in a positive direction.”
Minji’s birthday posts raise fan interest
Speculation grew after NewJeans’ official social media accounts posted birthday content for Minji, following months of silence about her status in the group. The photos showed her self-made cookies, along with the message “Happy Minji Day.” The group’s Weverse page also featured a birthday image for the singer. Around the same time, online posts confirmed that Minji visited a fan-organized birthday cafe event, where she reportedly gave handwritten letters and cookies to fans.

NewJeans faces a lineup change
NewJeans attempted to break free from ADOR in November 2024, citing mismanagement and breach of trust. However, a Seoul court later ruled that the group’s contracts with the agency were valid, after the company effectively retained them through a counterlawsuit throughout late 2024 and most of 2025. After that ruling, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein returned to ADOR in November 2025. Meanwhile, Danielle was removed from NewJeans and sued by ADOR in December 2025, and is currently in a legal dispute with the agency. Finally, Minji’s status as a group member has not been announced yet. However, this current update signals the possibility of a return, making NewJeans a quartet.
