When the studios decided that they would make adaptations of teen novels the world was not prepared for what was to come. It all started with Twilight, creating a fantastic world full of adventure, then came the Hunger Games and there was no turning back, reading and going to the movies became fashionable.
Now, almost 10 years after the resounding success of some productions, new material has been coming out that we will be able to see and The Hunger Games will soon have a movie in theaters that will be a prequel based on the book.
The new Hunger Games movie is expected to be a flop.
Since the casting the movie has had many ups and downs, as many people were excited with the news of returning to the fascinating world of the Hunger Games, but due to the hype and even the reviews, the movie could be a box office flop and that is already worrying the studios.
If you were a fan of the saga and the movies, when the existence of a prequel was announced, people couldn’t help but get excited and rushed to buy the book, only to have it announced shortly after that the book would also have its own movie.
With global revenues in excess of $2.97 billion, The Hunger Games is the 21st highest grossing movie franchise of all time, but the website Box Office Pro has said what it thinks for the Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents movie, and predicts a first weekend at the U.S. and Canadian box office of $35 million to $45 million and a final gross of $90 million to $142 million.
