Amy Schumer confirmed that she did not continue in the project of the film adaptation of ‘Barbie‘ because she did not see the original script of the movie as feminist and interesting enough. The truth is that the Barbie movie could have been very different from what it is today, since th actress and comedian Amy Schumer represented the film, but in the end she ended up leaving the project, due to the lack of feminism.

The famous Mattel doll has a wide range of audiovisual material such as series and animated films, but she had never made the big leap to the big screen with a live action of this level. Currently, Barbie has filled fans of the famous Mattel figure with great expectations, and with the great cast that will play the characters, it is almost certain that it will be a success in its expected premiere.

At the moment, everything is flowing positively, however, some years ago, the adaptation of the prestigious doll could have ended in a complete disaster, due to the fact that Amy Schumer was who was originally going to play Barbie, news that did not captivate the filmmakers at that time, since fans assured that her style of comedy and humor did not fit at all with the character.

A few days later, the actress decided to leave her role with the excuse that her schedule was too tight. But now, during a recent appearance on ‘Live with Andy Cohen‘ via Variety, Amy confessed the real cause of her departure.

I can’t wait to see the movie, it looks great. I think I said earlier it was scheduling conflicts, yes that’s what I said. But well, it really was creative differences. But you know, there’s a new team behind it, and it looks like it’s really feminist and great now, so I’ll see the movie“, Amy Schumer related.

The host then asked Amy if the original film wasn’t feminist enough, to which the actress confirmed that it was indeed not, and then she said that the best thing that could have happened to the film was Greta Gerwig‘s total restructuring of it, completely turning the film into a more feminist plot.
