King Charles III has asked the House of Lords (UK parliament) to name his siblings, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, as his new two counselors of the state. With this decision made, the King would deny Prince Harry the right to act on his behalf.
Counselors of State are appointed from the monarch’s spouse, in this case, the Queen Consort Camilla, and among the four adults next in succession for the throne (as long as they have reached the age of 21), and their job is basically to represent the King when he’s unavailable for any reason. The current Counselors of State are the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Sussex, the Duke of York, and Princess Beatrice.
“Most content, should Parliament see fit, for the number of people who may be called upon to act as counselors of state under the terms of the Regency Acts 1937 to 1953 to be increased to include my sister and brother – the Princess Royal and the Earl of Wessex and Forfar – both of whom have previously undertaken this role”, said King Charles III in his request.
With this petition, King Charles III decided to add more names to the list of Counselors of the State, instead of relieving Prince Harry and Prince Andrew of the role, in an important decision to maintain the calm within the royal family, leaving beside the “scandals” this pair has brought to the family in the last years.
Don’t forget Prince Harry and Prince Andrew are now the most-unpopular British Royal Family members, this caused by the polemics. Prince Harry for distancing from his family, who he and his wife, Meghan Markle, accused of being racist.
And Prince Andrew for being retired of his tittle after being involved in the Jeffrey Epstein scandals about child abuse.
