IU is preparing to return with a new digital single, “Unknown Planet,” on September 10, 2026. Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, announced the upcoming release on September 5 and shared a teaser trailer featuring astronomy-themed visuals. The artist had previously shared a video titled “Dear Star, make my wish come true” in late August, which included the same music preview heard in the new teaser.
Most recently, IU revealed the track list for “Unknown Planet” on September 6. The singer will release the music video for “Dear my crazy soulmate” on September 10, followed by the music video for “Unknown Planet” on September 16. The project marks IU’s first music release since “Bye, Summer,” which was released on September 10, 2025.

IU’s musical return comes after she postponed several plans due to an ear disorder. In July 2026, the “Lilac” hitmaker canceled a concert that had been scheduled for September and delayed the release of her sixth studio album. However, she will still celebrate her 18th year as an artist in thet in the industry with special screenings of two concert films. The musical films, featuring performances from 2022 and 2024, will come back to movie theaters from September 9 through September 22 as fans wait for IU’s new music.
