Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has hinted that a KPop group will visit Mexico, joining South Korean President Lee Jae Myung’s planned trip later in September 2026. The head of state made the comments during her regular morning press briefing on September 5, 2026, while confirming that Lee is expected to visit Mexico in September. However, she did not announce the identity of the group joining the South Korean president, but revealed that more details will be shared later.
“We have commercial, cultural and other interests with the Republic of Korea. One of the K-pop groups, younger than BTS, is coming to Mexico with him,” Sheinbaum affirmed.
When asked about the purpose of her upcoming meeting with Lee, Sheinbaum spoke about the economic and cultural relationship between Mexico and South Korea. She then mentioned that a KPop group would also visit the country. Her remarks immediately sparked speculation among fans, although no official information has been confirmed about which group could be involved in the visit.

Stray Kids has been named a potential candidate, as the 8-member group is already scheduled to perform in Mexico City later this month. The boy band will hold their “STRAYCITY” festival at Estadio GNP Seguros on September 25 and September 26. However, there is no confirmation that Stray Kids is the KPop group that the Mexican President hinted at or that will be joining President Lee’s trip to the country. Stray Kids has previously participated in official events, with member Felix attending a state luncheon during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to South Korea in April 2026.
