KATSEYE members Yoonchae, Lara, Daniela, and Sophia visited PS17 school in Queens for an episode of Celebrity Substitute. The girl group appeared right before the release of their upcoming EP WILD on August 14, 2026. However, member Megan did not participate because she was ill. For the occasion, the KATSEYE members became students themselves for young children who began explaining Gen Alpha slang and online expressions.

A student named Grayson asked how long it takes KATSEYE to make a song. Yoonchae explained that the members rehearse every day for six hours, leading the children to react with the viral 6-7 hand gesture. Lara asked the class to explain popular words among children, such as “skibidi” and “sigma.” Then, Mila introduced brain rot and described it as “They’re sort of like, um, insults or like, mean things to say to someone.” When Lara asked how to use it as a compliment, Grayson said she could not. Daniela reacted with “OK! So we won’t say that,” while Yoonchae responded “Oooh, there’s no compliment.”

The episode arrives as KATSEYE prepares for the release of WILD. The EP has already been preceded by Pinky Up, an energetic dance track, and Animal, an Ed Sheeran-assisted pop song. The project has already teased the rest of the songs, including Hootie Frutti, Bel Air, That Way, and Unloveu, written and composed by member Lara. Meanwhile,  Celebrity Substitute, hosted by Julian Shapiro Barnum, has previously featured Noah Kahan, Kehlani, and A$AP Rocky. Amazon supports the series by helping clear items from a participating teacher’s Amazon Classroom List during each episode.
