BLACKPINK is approaching their 10th anniversary, but the special date has created debate among fans who expected a larger group celebration. The quartet’s anniversary falls on August 8, 2026, and YG Entertainment has announced merchandise, digital fan badges, and fan letter activities. However, some fans have said these projects do not properly mark the 10th-year milestone. A lot of them hoped to see the four members together through a live broadcast, video messages, a fan event, a special performance, or new music celebrating BLACKPINK’s decade-long legacy.

One announced project is the “BLACKPINK Heritage Collection,” created with MU, the merchandise brand of the National Museum of Korea. The seven-item collection combines Korean design details inspired by royal objects with BLACKPINK’s color palette and minimalistic visual identity. Fans can also receive anniversary badges through Weverse and submit messages for the members. Despite these activities, criticism has continued on X and other online communities. For example, BLACKPINK BLINK Union sent an open letter asking YG Entertainment to organize music, performances, and projects that recognize and celebrate the quartet’s anniversary.

“BLACKPINK is not just one of YG Entertainment’s artists — they are the biggest girl group in the world,” the request said. “Their legacy has been built through their identity as a team and a 10th anniversary is a rare milestone that deserves to be celebrated in a meaningful way.”
Other fans believe expectations should remain realistic, especially considering the quartet’s previous activities. BLACKPINK completed their DEADLINE World Tour in January 2026 and released their EP in February 2026, making another major project unrealistic to happen. Despite the anniversary criticism, fans continue to support BLACKPINK’s group activities, which have become rarer following the launch of Jisoo, Rosé, Lisa and Jennie’s solo careers. While BLACKPINK renewed their group contract with YG Entertainment in late 2023, the four members decided to pursue their solo endeavors outside the agency.
