The first signs that Diana and Charles would have a difficult marriage began to emerge during their honeymoon when a gift from Camilla sparked their first major fight.

To celebrate their marriage, the couple embarked on a 12-day Mediterranean tour aboard the royal yacht Britannia, where the then Prince of Wales caused a stir by wearing personalized cufflinks, a gift from his ex-girlfriend, Camilla Parker Bowles.

Diana recalled this moment in recordings made for Andrew Morton’s 1992 biography and said, “Cufflinks arrive on his wrists—two ‘C’s entwined like the Chanel ‘C’s. Got it in one; knew exactly. ‘Camilla gave you those, didn’t she?'”

The late princess of Wales continued, revealing, “He said, ‘Yes, so what’s wrong? They’re a present from a friend.’ And, boy, did we have a row.” However, this wasn’t all because during this yacht trip she discovered two photos of Camilla falling out of her new husband’s diary.

Later in conversation with Morton in her 1995 Panorama interview she revealed she suffered from bouts of bulimia as she was becoming “obsessed by Camilla,” that she even said once “At night, I dreamt of Camilla the whole time.”

The couple separated after 15 years of marriage in a controversial divorce in 1992. Years later Charles renewed his romance with Camilla, whom he married in 2005, years after Diana died in a car accident.
