Amid recent promotional activities, Josh Hutcherson was involved in a controversy for not liking Taylor Swift‘s music that even led him to be called a ‘monster’ and demonstrated why he is not on the internet.
The actor recently made his comeback to the spotlight with his role in the series ‘I Love LA’ and, with that, to social networks and interviews with media like i-D magazine, where he revealed he was forced to go to one of the ‘Eras Tour‘ shows, but when he was asked if he was a fan of the singer, he said:
“I’m not a Swiftie. Very much not. No shade, all respect, but definitely not”
If taylor swift said the same thing about josh, y’all would be crucifying her 🤷
LMAOO why rewrite history, he can handle a little bit of shade lol pic.twitter.com/QAjye4psXS— zamohappy (@zamohappy) April 20, 2026
Now, in conversations with GQ, Josh Hutcherson recalled his words and revealed he received much hate online for that, so he uses this experience to explain why he is not usually active on social networks.
“All of a sudden it garnered this, ‘Fuck him! He’s a monster! Destroy him! He’s short! He hates her because he’s short!’ It’s just like, whoa! I think she’s great. Her music is not my kind of music. That is why I don’t want to be online.”
After he concludes the promotions of ‘I Love LA,’ he returns to his life away from social networks and claims, “I don’t need that energy,” but also reflects about how going viral as a meme is counterintuitive for his job, preventing him from disappearing into characters.
