On Friday, April 17, 2026, the “Dusk ‘Till Dawn” singer posted a photo on Instagram Story showing himself in a hospital gown with medical equipment attached. In the message, he thanked fans for their support and said he had been through a difficult week. He also explained that he was still unexpectedly recovering and felt heartbroken that he would not be able to see fans during the release week of his latest album.
The former One Direction member also used the post to thank the hospital staff who helped care for him. He mentioned doctors, nurses, a cardiologist, management, and administrative workers, saying he was grateful for everyone who helped with his treatment. While he did not share many specific medical details, his message made it clear that the situation had affected his latest plans.
“Heartbroken that I can’t see you all this week, I wouldn’t be in the place I am today without you guys and am so thankful for your understanding. This unexpected update came on the same day that Zayn Malik released Konnakol, his newest album. The record is his first full-length project since Room Under the Stairs, which was released in 2024. It is also his fifth solo studio album since leaving One Direction back in 2015.
