Manon speaks about communication before being put on hiatus
KATSEYE had their photoshoot and feature interview article for NYLON’s 2026 Music Issue on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. The group, photographed by Daria Kobayashi Ritch, appeared with all six members ahead of Manon’s hiatus. The 23-year-old has been absent from group activities for approximately 2 months, but this interview took place before HYBE and Geffen announced her break.
You don’t become the world’s coolest girl group without riling up the internet. But the members of Katseye are tuning out the noise — and turning up the volume on their in-your-face style.

During their chat, Manon spoke openly about how KATSETYE handles conflict. She said that being in a group requires clear communication, healthy boundaries, friendship, and a strong work relationship. She also shared that the members try to remember that they share the same goal. In addition, Manom mentioned that support from family, friends, and a therapist helps her stay grounded.
“We have to lean on each other. But we also have supportive friends and supportive family. It’s something that keeps you humble and grounded. And then just having a good therapist.”
Other members explain how the group makes decisions
Then, the group’s leader, Sophia, spoke in the story and said that a simple majority vote does not always work for the group. She explained that if even one member feels uncomfortable about one of their choices, the group must take that seriously. According to her, it is hard to perform well when someone does not feel connected to the music or the direction.

“We’ve learned that if even just one person doesn’t feel good about a certain thing, we need to heavily consider and communicate about it — because it’s not about the majority enjoying it and just having the people who don’t enjoy it adjust,” Sophia shared.
Even though the girl group was photographed and interviewed as six, NYLON reported that the members declined to answer additional questions about Manon’s hiatus or the intense fan intrigue around the situation, after the news of her break began following their interview.
The group continues activities while fans await updates
It had already been announced on February 20, 2026, that Manon would take a temporary break to focus on her health and well-being. In a statement shared by HYBE and Geffen on Weverse, the agencies said they fully supported her decision and would continue scheduled activities during her absence. On that same day, Manon told fans that she was healthy and taking care of herself.
“After open and thoughtful conversations together, we are sharing that Manon will be taking a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on her health and well-being,” the companies told fans.
In another message in March, 2026, she said that management was having positive conversations with the companies. However, she removed KATSEYE from her Instagram bio, sparking intrigue among fans. Meanwhile, the girl group is set to perform at Coachella on Friday, April 10, 2026, but it is still unclear whether Manon will join the group on stage.
