WOODZ has shared a heartbreaking story during his short but substantial visit to tvN’s variety show, “You Quiz on the Block.” The idol opened up to his fans and the general public during the difficult period at age 21, when he not only had to halt his group activities but also received devastating news.

On March 21 KST, WOODZ shared a little bit of his background as a teenager, explaining that his parents divorced when he was in elementary school. He felt that everything was piling up at once, including the Chinese and Korean ban on the Kpop scene and the devastating call from his mother announcing his father’s death.

“Seungyoun, don’t be shocked, just listen.” The moment he heard that, I knew something was wrong. “What happened?” and she said, “Your father passed away.” I told her, “I’ll head home. “I still don’t know the exact cause of my father’s death. He passed away overseas. I asked, ‘What should we do?’ First, we had to bring him back. We could not bring the body from the Philippines, so we had to have him cremated. After that, we brought his ashes back, revisited the places in the Philippines where he lived, and finally brought him home to Korea.”

Ultimately, WOODZ were going through a lot despite being a young idol at that moment. However, the idol has always seen the silver linings of life and recalled some sweet moments with his father, as he once said he wanted to travel across the country with him on a Harley and get matching tattoos when he became an adult.
