Sony is developing a new Charlie’s Angels film and has hired screenwriter Pete Chiarelli to write the script. The project is in early developmental stages and aims to revive the action franchise based on the 1976 television series. Charlie’s Angels originally aired as a show on ABC from 1976 to 1981 and starred Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith as private investigators working for the Townsend Agency.

The series were lated adapted for the big screen on November 3, 2000. The new film starred Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu. The movie turned Charlie’s Angels into a franchise, becoming a commercial success and earning more than 264 million dollars worldwide. A sequel followed in 2003, titled “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.” A new TV show was later launched in 2011, but it was cancelled after seven series. Sony then made a new adaptation in 2019, starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska, with underwhelming results at the box office.
It is not yet confirmed who will produce the new film, although reports suggest Drew Barrymore and her company Flower Films may return. Sony has not provided additional details about casting or a release date. The studio appears to be exploring another attempt to bring the well-known crime and action story back to theaters.
