Luigi Mangione, accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on December 4th, 2024, has been exploring new music since being locked up. From behind the walls of the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, he revealed in a fan letter that he has been listening to Taylor Swift and Charli XCX. The 27-year-old admitted he had never heard their music before, but decided to try them out after a fake list of his favorite artists went viral. See the fake list here:

Apparently, Luigi’s new taste in pop didn’t go unnoticed. He mentioned that while walking laps listening to Taylor Swift’s “Cardigan,” another inmate named “King” decided to roast him for his playlist. King quickly took over as Luigi’s and swapped Taylor Swift for Lil Durk. In the fan letter, Luigi also revealed different things he’s grateful for, which you can check out here:

Despite the lighthearted story, Luigi still faces serious charges. Both state and federal authorities accuse him of fatally shooting Thompson in Midtown Manhattan. If convicted of murder with a firearm, he could face the death penalty.
