The new DC Comics movie, “Superman,” has hit the nail on the head at the domestic box office. James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios are celebrating that the movie has grossed $300 million in the territory.
It’s the first DC movie release to achieve the milestone since “The Batman” in 2022, which topped out at $369.2 million by the end of its run. In addition, the new “Superman” has already surpassed Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel,” which topped out at $291 million domestically in 2013.
Despite Gunn’s film facing plenty of competition, including Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” the movie has remained stable and is heading into its fourth weekend, and the fourth to reach the $300 million mark, Joining “A Minecraft Movie,” “Lilo & Stitch,” and “Jurassic World: Rebirth.”
The recent milestone has become a major accolade for DC after recent misses, including The Flash,” Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom,” “Blue Beetle,” and “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.” If “Superman” remains stable in the upcoming week, it could become the highest-grossing comic book movie of 2025. The first time for DC since 2008, when the MCU started.
