James Cameron’s smash movie franchise, “Avatar,” is ready to take the next step in its cinematic universe, as the first trailer for “Avatar: Fire and Ash” was released. Just like “The Way of Water,” which introduced the aquatic Metkayina clan of Pandora, “Fire and Ash” will debut a new group called the Ash People.
On July 28, Disney released the first trailer for the upcoming film, showing Jake Sully’s family and the Metkayina joining forces to fight against Varang and her fiery forces, who have allied with Quaritch (Lang). The Varang can control fire, and her blazes burn down parts of Pandora’s forest.
“Fire and Ash” was conceived as one film along with “The Way of Water.” However, James Cameron decided to split them into separate movies once writing began the story unfurled. He even revealed there are new characters that people might love or love to hate. “Avatar: Fire and Ash” will be in theaters on December 19.
