Scarlett Johansson just snatched the crown and made history! Thanks to the jaw-dropping debut of Jurassic World Rebirth, which premiered with a global opening of $318.3 million, Scarlett is now officially the highest-grossing actor of all time. That’s right, she just beat Marvel heavyweights Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Downey Jr, and took her spot at the top of the list. The film, directed by Gareth Edwards, is currently dominating 82 countries and setting the second-best franchise opening, right behind 2015’s Jurassic World.
Of course, Scarlett Johansson has been building this empire for years, from her Marvel era as Black Widow to this prehistoric smash. Meanwhile, industry experts say the actor’s worldwide success is due to her wide movie catalog, spanning different genres. Not to mention, her participation usually draws in viewers from different demographics and ages, making her a box office queen.

In terms of numbers, more than $8.7 billion comes from the four Avengers films and Captain America: Civil War, a franchise in which she plays Black Widow. Other roles counting towards her record are her own Black Widow film, Iron Man 2, and the animated Sing movies, in which Scarlett voiced Ash. Her latest role as Zora Bennett in Jurassic World Rebirth sees the actor taking over the lead role. In this installment, she’s playing an ex-military operative on a mission to one of the few islands where dinosaurs still live.
